Had stroke nearly 3years ago, only affected my arm temporarily, blood clot on brain...left hospital with Cloperdogral,Ramipril,Atorvastatin and Lansaprozole....Felt really great after initial 6months .have continued to do so. After a routine bloodtest last year GP informed me that I had low sodium levels..and platelet levels raised...I was so shocked because I felt great....since then dreadful health anxiety after over zealous ,but good,GP had me going for MRI,scans ,ultrasounds, looking for something amiss....nothing has been found ,I have the AllClear...but it's all left me a wreck mentally..can't get BPmed to NOT affect my sodium levels.

Hello JPBee. It sounds like you have a good doctor - and you have the all clear! But your clearly anxious so shall we try to unpick your anxiety?

Your sodium levels - I’m not sure what this indicates, if anything. Did your GP say what it meant? Platelet levels raised - again, I don’t know what this means if anything - did the GP say?

You’re on Lanzoprazole - again, you don’t say why.

It’s unusual, but not unheard of, to be on Clopidogrel for more than a year so maybe that needs looking into. And you are not on aspirin - which has a similar sort of effect.

Now that I’ve written all this down, this says to me is that a chat to someone more professional than us amateurs on this platform might be indicated. If you’re in the UK you can get in touch with Blood Pressure UK. Many GP surgeries now have Nurses who have special training in pharmacology too. You need your mind to be put at rest and I feel that a talk to a professional is the way forward for you.

Do let us know how you get on!

Thank you.The Lansoprazole is to prevent too much acid from the other meds (I think).Low sodium ,below 135 reading in blood test is worrying if it goes lower it causes hyponatremia(you'll have to look it up) .Blood pressure meds are diuretics therefore we tend to pee more ,not helpful because of getting rid of essential sodium (again I think). Not all BP meds are diuretics,so it's finding the right one. Platelet levels ...seeing haematologist at end of this month. My GPpractice is very good.I had a long walk today with a friend ,doing my 10 thousand steps per day, eating healthily ,I have a blood test on Friday and seeing GPin person!!!next Monday. This site is good for people to chat and perhaps share a worry .Thank you again for your interest.
