I’ve just starting taking 5mg of amlodipine as my BP goes high 182/110, after first day I felt like I was walking on air and laying in bed was like being on a water bed, rung doctor she thinks I have vertigo!! So prescribed anti sickness tablets ....but just wondering if anyone else has had this awful feeling,
Iam wondering if it is the amlodipine and not vertigo

I expect, Deary, you’ve looked at the Am. pack insert for guidance. I don’t think anything the doc may have prescribed for vertigo would have adverse affect on the Am. and it won’t impact adversely on your blood pressure, so go along with it and treat the symptoms is what I’d say.
Morning hope you’re feeling a little better. I was put on 5mg Amlopodine a couple of weeks ago only took them for 5 days as I felt very strange! My face was burning and my legs were itching and burning in bed. The dr then changed to Lercanipidine I ended up in A&E thought I was having a heart attack! They gave me awful indigestion and acid reflux my heart was pounding in my ears I was sweating. Had ECG bloods X-ray but thank the Lord all ok. I’m now on my 3rd medication in 4 weeks indapamide which is a diuretic. So far ok just peeing a bit more constipation but I can deal with that. I am taking omeprazole now as I can’t get rid of the indigestion! Never had it before I took these horrible calcium channel blockers!!! Good luck but please don’t be fobbed off there are many alternatives.
Thank you for your message, speaking to friends and family on BP tablets everyone seems to have gone through a few different tablets before finding one that suits...it’s such a pain as I can read you been through it 😬
My GP just rung me back, Iam going to just take 2.5mg to see if floating goes off.
Some of these tablets seem to solve one problem and give you another 😩
Hi Deary. I take Amlodipine 5 mg too and I have not experienced any feelings of floating or dizziness but that doesn't mean anything as we can all get different side effects to each other. Did you take your BP reading as I'm wondering if maybe your BP reduced quite a bit and was therefore a bit low?
Yes your right everyone is different! Well Iam hoping now Iam on 2.5 mg I might not feel so odd 😊
But been monitoring my BP all week it’s between 130/70 to 110/70. But to be honest I suffered for years with ectopic beats badly so Iam always keeping eye on my BP over years...always had low 105-115 never gone over , just lately had one day or two gone up , which gives me very bad headache and hot face ...all my blood works are normal ..just odd.
That's great that you've been in touch with your GP. Well you don't need any advice from me about not taking your BP so often then that's for sure (that was going to be part of my reply above so I'm glad I didn't bother 😁). Flushing is quite common with Amlodipine - for some strange reason it happens more with me when I have just got out of the shower. Hope all will be well going forward Deary. All the best. x
I started out on 10mg amlodipine last year and, to begin with, the side effects were awful but they did settle over time. I had to withdraw from 10mg due to bad swelling of ankles and then tried various other drugs. Eventually I settled on amlodipine 5mg and losartan 25mg. I also had side effects with the lower dose of amlodipine (5mg) but stuck with it and they really do settle but it takes time. I hope your side effects will improve with the lower dose. I found that keeping busy helped to take my mind off the side effects. Good luck - it will get better.
