Adverse reaction to 2nd medication Lercanipidine

Only took this for 2 days when started getting indigestion and acid reflux. Over the following week it got worse and on Wednesday/Thursday I woke with awful chest pain that travelled to my throat. My heart was pounding in my ears and I thought I was having a heart attack. My partner calmed me and after some deep breathing I managed to feel slightly better. Didn’t want to call an ambulance so waited and spoke to my GP at 8am. He advised me to go straight to A&E. I was given an ECG and had X-ray and blood tests. Fortunately it was acute indigestion and I came home.

My GP has prescribed a diuretic Indapamide now as he thinks channel blockers are causing this problem. I sincerely hope these new tablets work as my experience with blood pressure medication that’s far has been a nightmare.

Hello shadynook, Sorry to hear you had that awful experience.

I also take lercanipipine 10mg, was initially on a statin but (can’t remember the name) 3 yrs ago, I find the lercanidipine really difficult also, Am thinkin of askin the GP if I can try something else but not sure if it’s worth the hassle,

I also find the pounding heart rate and arm pain horrendous, I wish there was an alternative to these medications,

Hope you get sorted and can relax

Bern
