Hi until recently I was on 5mg of Amlodipine & 2.5 Bendroflumethiazide. 3 weeks ago it was increased to 10mg as my BP was getting too high. Since then I have been waking up 2,3 times a night feeling extremely hot, even though the room is very cold. I have not been sweating but have to take all the covers of me and usually have to visit the bathrooms, something I had not experienced before the increase. Anybody else suffer with this, and any tips to avoid this.
Thanks

Hello Lucky. Well, I do think you are lucky if you’ve only just started waking in the night, and getting hot. I’m 74 and this has been the case for me for about twenty years - but probably nothing to do with the medication in my case.
Everything you put into your mouth will have some kind of effect whether it’s food or medication, If you don’t like the side effects after a couple of months - give it time to settle - you can always go back and ask the doc to try another combination of drugs.
Hi - My Doctor added Amlodipine 5mg. to my Candesartan 32 mg. in December last year. After four weeks of taking the Amlodopine I noticed significant hair loss (scalp) and itchiness over my body. I have since stopped taking the Amlodopine and been offered Felodopine - does anyone know if Felodopine can cause similar symptoms to Amlodopine?
I was feeling unwell for ages on 5 mcg amlodipine. Kept getting a flushes on face and daily inflammation on my hands and feet and tinnitus. My GP agreed to me stopping the medication and monitoring my BP for 2 weeks. Since then I have felt so much better so have concluded the amlodipine didn't suit me. May have to take something else but for the moment I am relieved to feel more normal.
