suffered with it all year since been on bp meds, for 7 months only got 1 to 2 hours sleep a night, last couple of months about 4/5, i drop off sleep but wake up and then wide awake all night, tried night nurse,it knocks u out for the night but deadly tired in morning, milk and honey help to sleep a bit, tried the herbal sleeping stuff, they did nothing, im wondering if its the bp meds causing it, if i go bed at 10 awake at 2 and thats it till get up at 7, ive tried getting up doing things and coming back bed, staying up all night and day, no difference, its getting where i dread the night now and if i dont fall asleep in a hour i never sleep at all so feel rough the next day,

Hello Peter. I remember you posting before and had a quick look at earlier posts. It’s possible that your meds are causing sleeping issues I suppose, after all any medication has side effects. Indeed anything you ingest has a side effect. You obviously tried a few things.
When we get to our age sleep is more difficult, isn’t it. I go to bed at midnight-ish and am awake by 4 a.m. I take a pain killer and glass of water and if I’m not asleep within an hour I get up and read. This has been the case for so long that I’m used to it.
I remember reading once that Samuel Pepys in his diaries mentions getting up in the night, when it was apparently the normal thing to have a sleep and then what was called a second sleep; and that the period when people were awake was valued.
There have been a lot of articles in newspapers over the years on the subject of sleep and how to get better at it, I’m sure you can research past newspaper articles to see if there are any hints that help you.
But as posters have said before to you, it would be unwise to change your medication unless under the care of and with the help of a medical professional
