Low heart rate

Hi everyone, I wear an Apple Watch and now and again I get a very low heart rate, below 50 bpm. This occurred while I am asleep. Has anyone ever experienced this before and is this anything to do with my blood pressure.

So much depends on your age, your physical fitness, whether you are on any medication, like beta blockers, what your normal resting pulse rate is ....

My normal pulse rate is around 70 when I’m awake but can fall to 65 when asleep.

If you’re worried then why not start with a chat with your pharmacist?

If you are worried see your Dr.

My advice would be to ignore or ditch the watch. The low readings are not uncommon but certainly gives you a startle once you are aware of them.

No heart rate and blood pressure are not directly correlated. I also use an Apple Watch and track HR when exercising. Low heart rate is generally a sign of good heart health which shows the efficiency the heart is working at. A higher heart rate which takes longer to come down is a much bigger problem. Highly trained athletes with high cardiovascular fitness levels will have a low resting heart rate sometimes lower than 40-50. I also sometimes hit 49 when resting. I take the watch off at bed time but am sure it drops low then too. Track it in the day time and your will likely see it’s normal range. 60+ Speak to your Dr if any issue or concerns but I wouldn’t be worried

Hi there, I have high BP and a low heart rate. 50 bpm apparently isn’t terrible but worth checking with your doctor. Sometimes heart rate falls as the body tries to reduce BP. I had a recent echocardiogram that shows a reduced amount of blood pumped by my heart. I have hypothyroidism so my slow heart might mean I’m under dosed. So worth following up.
