Are you still weightlifting and if so did you take this reading at the same time as lifting?

Like me I think that you have had readings like this before. I was taken to A&E last month with almost as high readings and erratic heart rate. They did blood tests and monitored me. Five and a half hours later it had dropped on its own to 147/84 and they said go home. This has been happening since 2000 although that was the highest. At 85 it obviously hasn't killed me yet.

Hope everything worked out OK. Do let us know. My doctor says the crucial word is “consistent”. Consistent high BP damages the arteries. But high spikes in BP are very worrying if not consistent. Good to get checked out.

Those are very high readings. Please call 111. My BP raises to around 190/95 by mid afternoon on some days, even on medication. Yours is much higher. Please take care and I hope you get the help you need.
