For about 6-7 years I've been taking exforge 5/160 every morning. Last year, around January, I thought my blood pressure was totally normal and decided to try getting myself off it. I definitely did it wrong, I just stopped, but at the time I did not notice any difference... Then in February I got very sick, with a striking pain down my neck, into my right arm and right leg. The doctor I saw thought I got dengue fever, but tests showed nothing. When it passed, muscles all over my body were twitching, fasciculations were what my neurologist called it. He said I had developed benign fasciculation syndrome.
2019 was a miserable year, and throughout I tried a few times to get back on exforge, but thought it was making the twitching worse so I kept stopping. It started to settle a little after taking many different kinds of vitamins, but I noticed my blood pressure was getting bad again. So I decided to just get back on exforge and deal with the twitching.
First week twitching was bad, second week it focused mostly on my right hand, with my thumb twitching back and force and a muscle flickering around the base of my thumb. Third week, it stopped, and all of my twitching disappeared. I was shocked! I still have a slow aching pain in my right hand palm, and my thumb twitches a little still, but the body-wide twitching disappeared.
I'm SO confused, how the twitching could have anything to do with the hypertension meds. I saw so many specialists last year, 4 neurologists, an internal medicine doctor, a ENT, a gastroenterologist, the list goes on, but I never saw a heart doctor, I never thought it was related.
Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? I just don't know what to make of it. I had a few tests done and my doctor said my CRP is elevated a little(12) and that I should check it again in a month.
