Hypertension problem
Do you have an irregular heartbeat as in afib, flutter, etc? Does your local surgery have access to an old fashioned, pump it up and listen machine, and someone who can use it? I have had a reading like yours just before I went into my local surgery to be told it was 140/80 on the older machine. A sphygometer?
The problem arises when you get this sort of measurement in a surgery or hospital you will find that there are not many people who are willing to listen to this point of view.."Your blood pressure is dangerously high", etc. My cardiologist has now written this into my notes. I now have an icd to record unusual events after a fainting event, possibly caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure.
Try taking 3 readings. Looking at your username I suspect you may have had a passing acquaintance with the older methods?

If you wish to do your own research, you may want to use the words: severe, urgent, acute before the word hypertension or blood pressure.
