Hi I have just bought a blood pressure monitor. How often do people take their blood pressure?

Home monitoring
Hi Newbie - I usually take mine in the morning, then again in the afternoon. I set up an Excel spreadsheet and log the results there so I can see the patterns if any occur..
hi once a week in the am after 3 mts once a month until your happy with it ed
Hi I think I will take mine morning and evening for a few weeks as I have just started taking
medication. I will take a copy of my results to the doctors in three weeks as I get nervous and
my blood pressure is usually high when at the surgery.
Yeah - White Coat Syndrome hits me too, even with no real reason for it to do so...
Hi Caerylusa. I used to use an excel sheet, but discovered the ap.BP Companion. If you have a smart phone you might consider it. So much easier and it gives you a report that you can email yourself. You can also set baselines so if it goes over that, it is highlighted so you can easily see if you are staying on target.
I'm kind of strange with things that go on my cell phone - No personal information, no insurance information, no friends information other than name, address and phone, etc. Just in case someone finds my phone... =)
Only if I feel bad otherwise you can get obsessed.
Hi I don't want to get obsessed with taking readings so once I've been on medication for 4 weeks I will only take it once a week.
My concern for myself is that blood pressure can change in a flash (like the dreaded white coat symdrome). So, twice a day will do for me. Best of luck
Hi. I used to take 3 times earlier. Morning ,noon and night. Now I take in morning everyday after I wakeup. But I think we shd take it once a week agreed with Morgan as we get obessesd by taking daily reading.
Hi. How's ur readings now? How often ur taking ?
Hi. My readings are good. Did home monitoring twice a day for 2 weeks average was 114/68.
Last time at the doctors reading was 130/68. Much better than my original reading of 168/90 at the doctors.
I take a reading about once a month. I was told to phone the practice if my home readings went over 140/70. I think losing weight as well as taking medication helped.
Thanks for asking hope you are OK.
I check it every day at least 3 times.
I take my pressure daily using a Baum mercury device. Because l have extremely high blood pressure (usually around 290/240) without meds I measure my pressures in both arms lying sitting and standing. I currently take 10 antihypertensive pills. I also take my wife's pressure while she is on the treadmill. Her systolic pressure goes from 132 to around 240. Our twin teenage daughter's also are hypertensive. My daughter's use a Omron digital pressure device.
Both my wife and l have hypertension. I check her pressure at least 3 times daily. I take my own bp quite often. I use both manual and electronic bp monitors. I take 5 pressure pills and my wife is on 7 pressure medications.
My pressure at the doctors yesterday was 130/70. I took readings twice a day for a week before I went to the doctors I had an average of 122/72 so weight lose plus medication seems to be working for me.I take 5mg amlodipine a day.
I have to go back in November for a blood test and pressure reading.
