What can I do next?

About 4 weeks ago I got diagnosed with diabetes.

At first they said it was type 1 because when taking my blood sugar test it came back too 15.7 which was exactly the same as my brother who got diagnosed at 13 with type 1.

I had to monitor my blood sugar level for the weekend and go back to the doctor with my results and my doctor sent a urgent fax referral to the nearest hospital but the earliest they got me in was the 26th February but they cancelled that and gave me one for the 21st December.

My doctor was having conversation with the diabetic specialist too see whether I should be put on metformin too see if it will help and every two week I have too increase dosage.

I keep getting symptoms like diarrhea, nausea and loss of appetite. But recently started getting itchy skin and very dry chapped skin on back of hands which has never happened before.

Make sure to Discuss kidney disease with your doctor as well and have blood work done to determine kidney function. Diabetes is one of the leading causes of kidney disease, but is not often diagnosed until it hits stage 3or 4. Early detection can slow deterioration down. Your symptoms could simply be from the change in the weather, or many other reasons, but they are also a function of kidneys not working at 100%.
