First off to you all battling high BP, my heart goes out to you all for real, I have anxiety and I've dealt with spikes and I seen one time 229 over 106 in the middle of a panic and it was a bad panic but I came back down instantly, but that one time made me feel God awful, but anyways why I'm here....

I quit smoking, I quit caffiene, I lost 60 pounds, now before my BP was flirting with stage one hypertension, in the last few months tho, I've finally came down to 120 over 80 or slightly lower, like 115 over 75, I'm 31 male, my question is, at night, when I lay down, I see 90 over 50 and that freaks me out, I'm not use to seeing that, is it harmful? Reason I ask you all is because I had a friend say even with High BP, people in hypertensive dip as well but was wondering do you all see numbers that low?

Its only when I'm laying flat relaxed. Anyways sorry you all, just haven't been able to sleep because I feel like I'll go lower and it scares me, wont lie I've thought about smoking to bring my BP back up a little, being high for so long and now low is a shock to me.

I know I've said it elsewhere, but those are perfectly normal, healthy figures - and just shows the effect that caffeine, smoking and weight were having and that addressing those can really make a difference - well done for that. They are very similar to mine, when I used to check, I don't anymore. There is nothing wrong with me.

It's only natural to feel worried about your BP with all of the alarmist things we hear, I sometimes wish that I didn't know the things it can cause. Anyway, my BP started to spike twenty years ago and I've had readings as high as 220/120 very scary! The thing I've learned during the twenty year period is not to let it define who you are. It's not necessary to be always taking your BP that would indicate more of a stress disorder. You are so young, your body can cope with these changes.

Are you taking any meds for your hypertension at the moment? You need to discuss your concerns over the low nighttime readings ith your dr to allay your fears if nothing else.

I have and the response I got was "the heart loves low blood pressure like that." from the cardiologist..... So Not dealing with the brightest bunch lol.

But the heart is better off with blood pressures in the range you are talking about - it doesn't have to work so hard to pump blood round. If you normally had a B. P. of 170/100 and it was 90/60 because of e. g. blood loss then that would mean that your heart at that point was failing to maintain the blood pressure that your organs etc usually operate at. But that isn't the situation with you.
