Hi Sharon1967, I'm not in the same boat but my husband was. It was a worrying time but I changed his diet and in 6 weeks his BP was back to normal and a side benefit was his weight fell off.

For him we cut out red meat, prepared foods, convenience meals, takeaways and increased his intake of fresh foods, fish and fruit and vegetables that are good for him.

Hi Sharon 1967, I'm guessing that could be your birth-date, so under fifty, is that right? my GP diagnosed my HBP in my early fifties and I worried about it a lot, I continued to be very active and as the years went by I increased my exercise which helped to control it. I managed for ten years without taking BP meds, during a period of intense stress nursing my mum my BP soared and I had to start taking medication. I can recommend exercise, also Co Q10 which helps to keep the BP down. It's natural to worry when you're first diagnosed, it seems most people's BP elevates as they get older and as you're already a very responsible person with your diet hopefully a bit of extra exercise will do wonders. Best wishes with the tests.
