hi everyone i'm a newbie,i have had my blood pressure done twice and both times it has been higher than normal, i know have to have a ECG, blood test and urine sample i dont add salt smoke or drink any one in the same boat if so how did you lower it thanks

Hi Sharon1967, I'm not in the same boat but my husband was. It was a worrying time but I changed his diet and in 6 weeks his BP was back to normal and a side benefit was his weight fell off.

For him we cut out red meat, prepared foods, convenience meals, takeaways and increased his intake of fresh foods, fish and fruit and vegetables that are good for him.

i dont eat red meat very rarely,i eat only homemade meals some times go for a kfc thats the only take away, and started to eat loads of fruit, i'm really hoping my bp goes down problem is i have never suffered high bp which worries more even more, i dont drink,smoke or add salt to any thing

Hi Sharon 1967, I'm guessing that could be your birth-date, so under fifty, is that right? my GP diagnosed my HBP in my early fifties and I worried about it a lot, I continued to be very active and as the years went by I increased my exercise which helped to control it. I managed for ten years without taking BP meds, during a period of intense stress nursing my mum my BP soared and I had to start taking medication. I can recommend exercise, also Co Q10 which helps to keep the BP down. It's natural to worry when you're first diagnosed, it seems most people's BP elevates as they get older and as you're already a very responsible person with your diet hopefully a bit of extra exercise will do wonders.
