Do you have a home monitor? Might be an idea to get one if not- not that expensive.

Many of us unknowingly suffer white coat which means our bp goes up as soon as we go to the gp so giving the possibility of high reading. Only way that that can be confirmed is by asking to have a 24hr monitor fitted which assesses your bp throughout the day, then the gp decides how to go on from there.

I was only slightly older than you when i first went on meds, do suffer white coat and was slightly overweight at that time. I lost a lot of weight3stone and came off my meds. As my weight has crept back up so has the need to have my bp meds reinstated.

So it is not just a case of putting you on drugs, gp should be able to give you a valid reason and help.
