Got over last weeks chest infection OK, have stopped using the nebuliser now and have gone back to my pre op puffer routine and am feeling pretty good, sleeping is getting easier now and I am getting about 7 hours sleep at night still and a siesta in the afternoons.
I have noticed that I am not so puffed out after going up stairs which is a good sign of improvement, everyone is saying I have a much better colour now and can talk without sounding puffed out. Scar is looking good as well and all healing nicely.

Hi Perce, great news you have overcome your first setback since the operation and are beginning to see the benefits but take it slowly. Jeeze I must sound like your wife and your mother put together with all the fussing but I just think its a remarkable thing you have done revolutionary almost. Thank you for posting. I don't know if I told you that my brother who has turned 60 and hasn't smoked for many years now (7 or 8 years) is being considered for this operation depending on his scan results. All he knows about it is, if he is accepted and also if he decides to go for it (which he does seem determined about) then the operation will be in London. They weren't more specific than that. He is not so matter of fact about the illness as you are however and won't be a model patient if it comes to it - will keep you posted. So pleased for you Perce. So far, so good!
Lets hope it is a goer for your brother, it expect it will be the Royal Brompton hospital.
I just look at things from an engineering point of view, from looking at my scans it needed doing even I could see that, yes it is a bit painful but I am now pretty sure there is going to be a huge benifit for me soon.

I am so impressed and that scar is so neat! I'm glad you keep giving updates here, it's really interesting and I think everyone admires you're determination to get better.
Forgot to mention earlier that it is still fairly painful and I am still taking two paracetamol every six hours or so, the cold is a problem as well as it aches like mad when it gets cold so I have ordered a body warmer fleece so that might do the trick.
Get those snazzy thermals out hope you find the pain and ache becoming less severe, less frequent and soon can reduce the paracetamol. You are doing great though Perce. Keep on healing.

Hi Perce ,so glad you are feeling better and can now see for yourself the up of haveing the op .its any been 4 weeks so early days it will take 3 months ,Icould'nt believe how well my sister looked days after the op it's amazing .But take it slowly the pain killers will help keep takeing them until your told to stop ,how big it your scar ,then my sister had hers what 12 years ago now her's when from breast plate right round to her shoulder blades hopfully they have inproved that greatly .keep being pos and please take it easy xJackie
My scar goes from under my arm towards my back and is 12 inches long, I bet they had my ribs jacked well open so wonder it aches a bit, at least they didnt break them.
