I'm on the lookout to see if anyone has similar symptoms to me? I started coughing a whopping 8 weeks ago with suspected Covid. Been to hospital with heavy breathing and heavy chest sensation. I haven't had an x-ray. Been given lots of different antibiotics, which seems to be general practice?
I still have the cough and I still have the heavy chest feeling. I'm wondering now if I've got pleurisy. My doc wants me to have an xray but the hospital refused as their standard is, if you've got suspected covid, we don't x-ray unless you're admitted. Feeling a bit in limbo, feeling like I'm not getting better but also feeling like I'm bugging the NHS when I try to get more info!

In January I had what I though was flu and chest infection. Looking back I had classic covid symptoms as it started with fever and dry cough, The cough lasted about 2.5 months for me, although over that time it did gradually become less frequent, it was a slow process.
If your cough has not changed at all I would be wanting a further investigation too, I think if you had pleurisy you would know about it, its very painful
2.5 months! That sounds so wearing - hope you're feeling better now.
Thanks for getting back to me and I think you're right - if I had pleurisy, looking at the link you've given me, I think I'd know about it. All I have is a horrible dull feeling in my chest (rather than sharp), as if someone is sitting on me. The cough comes and goes. Wish I knew what sets it off!
Yes the cough did come and go for me also but the space between the coming and going gradually got longer so less infrequent coughing.
With the heavy chest I wonder if you have a chest infection now, is your sputum a good colour? If not you may need to treat that (usually anti biotics and prednisolone depending what your symptoms are, what lung issue/s involved, what your doctor says.
The coughing is exhausting, take good care and keep resting but also good to be up and about for a bit to avoid laying horizontal for too long with risk of pneumonia if the lungs are infected.
You may start with a viral infection but this can sometimes lead to a bacterial infection.
Hopefully its not a lung infection and your sputum is a good colour.
The coughing will strain the diaphragm muscles and rib areas (it did with me) I wonder if this could be the heavy chest feeling.
I am fine now myself and hopefully in another couple of weeks you will be too.
No sputum at all right now, thanks Bkin. Hoping that's a good thing!
I'm on a third lot of antibiotics in case I developed secondary bacterial pneumonia.
Hoping it's just lingering now with no real seriousness. I think the constant worry of this awful virus can really take its toll.

Hope you feel better soon it is one of those crazy dillemas many people have found their self in due to the virus. Which the NHS is now recognising. Best wishes
