Influenza/Tamiflu question

How often during a "flu season" can one take Tamiflu; will it work a second time if one has to repeat it again three weeks later? Grandson, at University, has asthma bad, got off plane 3 weeks ago, 2 days later flu symptoms surfaced, tested...it was Influenza-B, took Tamiflu, recovered quickly. He is now on a bus with fellow students on his way to D.C.. Buses, planes...incubators for disease! He will return to university tomorrow, which is 200 miles from home....Ughhh! Will appreciate information, Thx, J

Taken from the Tamiflu site:

tamiflu.com/

Tamiflu is a prescription medicine used to treat the flu (influenza) in people 2 weeks of age and older who have had flu symptoms for no more than 2 days. Tamiflu can also reduce the chance of getting the flu in people 1 year and older.

Tamiflu does not prevent bacterial infections that may happen with the flu.

Tamiflu is not recommended for people with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who are not receiving dialysis.

Tamiflu is not a substitute for an annual flu vaccination.

Do not take Tamiflu if you are allergic to oseltamivir phosphate or any of the ingredients in Tamiflu.

Thx, 2greys. He doesn't take the vaccine, something about its development sometimes being egg-related. J

They have flu vaccines without eggs....they have been available in U.S. since 2018....check on that, it would be good for him to have as well as you!!

Have a good weekend.

I get the vaccine every year. And my doctor said that I have had all the pneumonia shots that I need. If I get X posed to flu , as I was when grandson had it a few weeks ago, I still have to take an anti-viral. How grandson's Pulmonologist said it is that each year the vaccine is constructed to address that particular year's most likely viruses and some years they involve live viruses and an egg? 🙄 He's allergic to everything outside, and several foods including shellfish, all nuts, and eggs. Thx. J
