Aldi Manuka honey query.

As regards Manuka honey. I have only tried Aldi's. It seems very good too and quite cheap. I am unsure whether is is as good as one as the stronger (more expensive) types? Can anybody enlighten me.

It’s unlikely to be genuine Manuka, cause loads more is sold as Manuka than can be produced. The real stuff has a New Zealand label and bears a “UMF” or “MGO” rating. I read an article about how to tell genuine from fake, will try & find it!

Hidden is right. Genuine Manuka is pricey! I had a look and took two steps back. 😧

This is the article google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thea... It says only 1,700 tons of genuine Manuka are produced annually, but 10,000 tons are sold as Manuka. I don’t know how they get round the food labelling regulations?! The most effective Manuka has a rating of either UMF 16 or MGO 550. Manuka Health is a reliable company but it’s over £50 for a small jar of that strength. As Caspiana says, that’s out of reach of most of us. I buy local honey 😊

I was actually very surprised that it was so expensive, but I read up on it and understand why now. Still, too expensive. 😑

I use honey but am not paying for " Manuka, " - Cheapest at Morrisons was I think £12 going up to £33.

Hi, check to see if it's blended with other, cheaper honey. I think that may be how they get around food labelling etc. I would imagine it only has to be a certain % Manuka to be called Manuka. I remember a while ago some furore over blended honey being full of antibiotics they'd used on the bees.

If you check the label it says manuka type honey - it is not pure manuka honey

If you read the jar is states this and says been tested.
