Hi, I'm new here. I have been suffering from recurrent UTI for the last 3 years. I had a cystoscopy and the urologist suggested an Urethral Dilatation as he found that my urethra entrance is tight.
Have any of you had this operation? is it worth going through this? I haven't had a letter from the NHS for an invitation yet, since I saw the specialist 3 months ago.

I had one and it worked for a long time like a few years but it stopped working. the doctor told me they can do another dilation but it will not be permanent. I have not had no more.
Thank you very much for your reply. How long did it take you to recover after the surgery? Was it very painful? I have finally received a pre op. Letter from the NHS
Not long it realy is a simple procedure. I was under sedation of course so about 2 days and I was good to go. no problems just a little sore. but I have not had anymore of those dilations. I hope it works for you did nothing for me.
It worked an absolute treat for me for around 7 years. Definitely worth it in my case. The reason I’m here is over the past few weeks I’ve woke up super early with mild UTI symptons daily. Sat on the toilet for a while and got over it. Today is the first day I’m sat here on the loo absolutely dying. God damit. it’s finally come back. I will call my doctors and get the ball rolling for another dilation
