hi, just wondered if anyone out there suffers with this? The uncomfortable and highly disconcerting fluttering in my chest is driving me mad with worry! It lasts anything from 5 mins to a few hours intermittently. Each time it happens I do an ecg on my watch which says normal and I check my heartbeat which is also steady. Dr Google suggests it’s vagus nerve palpitations 🤷♀️

vagus nerve palpitations

Hi. I think you are right about the vagus nerve connection. I get frequent missed beats/ fluttering in the chest & stomach area. This usually occurs not long after eating, it could be a couple of hours later. I have noticed that sometimes I burp when this happens & that seems to stop it, which makes me think that the trapped wind is setting a response off. Just a thought of course. It is rather unsettling when it happens though.
Best wishes.
yes I get exactly the same thing ! after a lot of investigations it has been found that I have a large hiatus hernia and most of my stomach is in my chest. They think that this is the cause of my palpitations as my stomach is pressing on my heart probably via the vagus nerve? iam waiting surgery on my hiatus hernia is so fingers crossed my palpitations will go away .
That's exactly what I've been experiencing, especially when I lay in bed , doesn't matter which side (left is worse) I also seemed to have alot of wind ,belching etc , GP gave me landzoporol for my stomach because he thought the Asprin maybe causing the gas , but also sent me some exercises for resetting the vagus nerve as he suspected that maybe a cause , by the way I had mitral valve repair in Nov , told surgeon last week on my telephone consultation and he wasn't concerned and discharged me , so I guess it's something I will have to get used to , hope this is helpful ,good luck
Hi there, one of the side effects from Lansoprazole, Heart palpitations.
I have an arrhythmia called SVT - supra ventricular tachycardia which can be triggered by irritating the vagus nerve.
That's what they said I have ,which apparently give me ectopic heart beats , (mentioned couplets /triplets) GP and surgeon both said its common and lots of people have it , so I'm getting used to it now , it's just very random apart from bedtime when I can definitely feel it come on , reassuring it's not just me I'm going g to keep trying these excercises and hope the vagus nerve resets
