Bisoprolol 18months post NSTEMI and tinnitus

I had an NSTEMI 18months ago due to inherited CAD ( my calcium score is almost 7,000) . I’m now doing pretty well with exercise, diet, meds etc but suffer badly from very loud tinnitus on top of a severe hearing loss.

Working with the pharmacist, we have tried B12 injections to no avail and are now looking at Bisoprolol. As recommended, I’m coming off it gradually, having reduced from 5mg to 2.5, with a view to stopping altogether after 2 weeks. My understanding is that Bisoprolol protects the heart by lowering BP ( mine is already low) and slowing the heart down.

I am wondering if continuing on Bisoprolol 1 year post heart attack is the norm or whether I possibly should have been weaned off it anyway. I would appreciate hearing of other people’s experiences with this and/ with tinnitus.

Thank you

two things. Tinnitus: there’s a tinnitus group here on Health Unlocked.

Bisoprolol: There are many many posts about this drug here. If you out the search term “Bisoprolol” into the search box top left, then tick “my communities” on the right, you can have a read about what people say.

You may of course have other direct responses to your post.
