So after spending a few nights in hospital the cardiologist just told me that I have fluid around my heart and that it's not far off to say it's pericarditis. Great, so myocarditis twice now pericarditis. I'll be back on colchicine.

It seems that once you have a condition, your more susceptible to it returning or getting something similar to it.

Has anyone else had this fluid sac sort of thing around their heart?

How did it go, what helped it improve?

Yes I had pericarditis last April and the sack had to be drained, I also had pneumonia and that is what they believe caused the infection. They drained 750ml of gunky liquid, and I was in for 7 nights while they also pumped me with antibiotics and removed the fluid retention that had builtup to dangerous levels. I was on colchicine for 3 months and my echo in October showed the percadium was back to perfection. On the otherside of the coin despite being seriously ill last year, and probably not that far from organ failure what happened has probably saved my life as at 57 after the amazing 6 month check up cardiac tests including echo, ecg and stress MRI I have been diagnosed with severe stenosis of a bicuspid aortic valve which I had absolutely no knowledge of. I am seeing the surgeon next week to discuss valve replacement.

Thank you for sharing your experience and I hope that it gets better for you. I hope the meeting goes well next week and the surgery is not needed.
