Angina

Very interesting article in the spring edition of Heart Matters about the treatment of angina. Preliminary results of ORBITA and ORBITA 2 trial show some folks with stable angina brought on by exercise benefit from having a stent as,first line of treatment. I know the full conclusions are due to be published later this, year of,ORBITA 2 which I will be interested in,as,I took part in that in 2022 and did receive a stent to my LAD ( which I didn't know for sure until 6 months later) which was completely blocked and I knew about 2 week after the angiography I could actually walk 100 yards up the road without getting chest pain

Glad to hear that the stent has helped with your angina symptoms. I was given a GTN spray to combat the effects but when I had my angiography it showed up substantial disease, more than likely hereditary. I was anticipating needing a stent or two but was stunned when the doctor informed me what they had found.

I had a triple bypass just before Christmas 2024 and have not had any angina symptoms since. Unfortunately I had an underlying infection which resulted in me missing both Christmas and New Year celebrations as I was placed into an induced coma for over 2 weeks. Discharged from hospital after 41 days and I am now around a third of the way into my predicted recovery period.

The side effects have not surprisingly given me quite nasty, both physical and mental problems however, without the operation I would probably have not been here for very long. I am so grateful to all the cardiac team at Leicester Glenfield hospital who fought long and hard to ensure I pulled through.

I hope the the stent continues to improve your heart health and that the horrible feelings caused by angina do not return.

Gosh you have had a journey hope your recovery physical and mental goes well. I did end up with another stent last year as another artery was blocked. My mum had angina as well, diagnosed when she was,60 and she lived until she was 104 bless her still living independently with no carers apart from a,cleaner once a week.
