Trial for efficiency of stents versus placebo

2 weeks post angiogram/ angioplasty for the orbita trial. Obviously i don't know at the moment whether I had a stent, but things looking good angina wise at the moment. Managed a couple of brisk walks this week without any angina pain, so hoping I was one of the percentage who got a stent. Bruise on thigh still there but gradually fading. As I can't take lanzoperole doc at basildon put me back on omeprozole, but my GP has changed this to pantoprezole, so keeping everthing crossed it doesn't have the same effect. Dont fancy spending all morning on the toilet again.😜

no wouldnt be disappointed. Just very surprised if I didn't have a stent as off all anti angina meds and I know how I was before I started meds. Couldn't walk more than a couple hundred yards before getting bad angina pains. Have totally bocked left artery.

Hello :-)

I admire you for going through with this and I have everything crossed for you that you keep feeling so well and the new meds agree with you to :-) x

Thank you for the update and for taking part in the trial.

I hope you continue to make good progress.

I also will be very interested in seeing the results of this trial.

Last time I was in A and E, about a year ago, the Cardiologist said they were already doing fewer stents, as the clinical indications were that in many cases less invasive methods had just as good results, and carried less risk than stents (and I bet, were less expensive).

So good to see this view is getting some good systematic research. Great that you are taking part. Thank you.

was told it was anout £5000 pound to do a stent.

Interesting, one friend said she paid £6000. But making a real comparison of cost of stent vs cost of more conservative management (drugs, tests, staff time etc etc) must be pretty complex?

Well done for getting involved with the research. It will be interesting to hear of the outcome. However, in the meantime I'm off down the betting shop as I reckon you've had a stent (only joking - I've never placed a bet in my life). 😀

had the same problem with Lansoprazole! GP switched to Pantoprazole and fine now.

Glad to hear you’re doing well!

So interesting although I am sure you are totally confused. Either way something positive is going on so best of luck for the future.
