Hello I'm a newbie in the community & would like to learn something of the successes, or otherwise, of a catheter ablation for AF. I've suffered with AF for many years; been on various meds & am currently awaiting a catheter ablation. I must say, I'm not relishing having the procedure, although I know it's needed. I would love to hear whether it worked for you, to what degree & also about your recovery. Thank you.

Catheter ablation

Lots of people who have undergone ablations report their experiences on the Atrial Fibrillation healthunlocked website. You will get lots of information there as well as on this site. Have a look. Best wishes.
I had AF after valve surgery. They tried to stop it using Amiodorone with no success. The catheter ablation has fixed it with no recurrence in the last six years.
I’m personally fascinated by these sorts of procedures, so had no hesitation in having the ablation. Some people apparently find it quite painful, but it was just uncomfortable for me, at worst. I like to think that being relaxed helped the doctor complete their work without worrying about me.
I was tired afterwards for a few days.
My neighbour has also had the procedure twice - less successfully than mine . She’s a worrier, which I really don’t think helps.
Go for it if that’s what is advised. Try and treat it as an adventure if you can.
