Just a bad cold or something more

Hi. I caught a cold off my son. Yesterday I had sharp pains near my heart with aches in my arm and neck when I laid down. I am still achy this morning. My resting heart rate is 101 and I'm feeling dizzy. I have DCM so do I contact the doctors or am I over thinking it? I don't think I've ever been this bad from a cold x

Hi,

Im on the arse end of a bad cold I have had that has lasted just over a week, i had pains in my chest along with shoulder / neck and top of arm pain and aching, I also had earache with it and some bouts of dizziness... Was waking in the night with cold sweats, had very sore throat and its only clearing up now. Its the first time since I left hospital that I have been ill (16 months) and it really kicked my head in, this!

I have DCM too. Phone doc if you are worried, I was going too but I was worried about them calling me in and me infecting loads of people if I rocked up at the docs.

Yes this is exactly how I'm feeling. I've had colds before but this is awful. Yea I don't like bothering the doctors much. I might just see how I go. Thank you for replying x

Only you know how poorly you are, so if you believe it is 'something else' other than a cold I suggest you either contact 111 or your GP. But if your symptoms take an unexpected turn for the worst, especially the chest pains, contact 999 and follow their instructions.

I've spoken to my doctors this morning they just told me to go a&e. I think I will rest up and if I feel worse contact 111, as for some reason if my GP thinks it's possibly heart related they just tell me to go a&e xx
