Active 75-year-old male, 75 kgs, 3 atrial cardioversion treatments. The heart system is currently stable, with daily medication. Active plus moderate fitness, gym and weekly run, coupled with cycling in summer months.

Enjoy cooking so keen to introduce meals that support my condition and desire to remain fit and active.

if you are looking for help on your diet - well I could go on for hours!

The Mediterranean diet is thought nowadays to be the best to follow, and you can find reference to this all over the internet - no need to buy anything special.

Both the NHS and BHF publish guidance on diet - but their general guidance is for those who wish to lose weight, in my view. They say, go for low-fat options. Well if you are trying to lose weight I suppose that’s ok but “low fat” options generally contain additives to make whatever-it-is palatable, by the manufacturers, so make profit.

They add what are called UPF’s, Ultra Processed Food ingredients - things you wouldn’t have in your kitchen. Other than bread and bread flour, many of which must have additives by law, these are nowadays thought to be a bad idea for a good diet - if you see what I mean.

If you are into Facebook, there are Facebook groups on this subject.

Was this the sort of thing you are looking for?

Good to hear Jeeves, welcome aboard . Keep up the good work . I made some tweaks to my nutrition , making my own breads has been a great change , way less salt and no need for sugar . White lean meats (turkey & chicken ) and fish (salmon) make up the mainstay of my diet and occasional red meat, a nice steak .

Running, swimming and some cycling plus work round our small holding is enough for me . Nstemi, quadruple bypass July 2023 . 63 this year 👊🏻.
