I’m on bisoprolol & furosemide (also asthmatic - if I am retaining fluid then it’s hard to walk & breathe, so I take furosemide. Whenever I go into AF the bisoprolol (beta blocker) has to be increased - from 2.5mg and have been up to 15mg. If I stay in AF I find walking/breathing very difficult all the time. When AF stops I need to reduce the bisoprolol back down slowly as then the feeling of having a lead suit on takes overas it’s too much for my low heart rate - once heart is in NSR & no fluid all is well again. If it’s asthma the wheeze and mobility are different to when it’s fluid & AF. Don’t know if any of that helps
Has the Furosemide helped your breathing when not in AF
You seem similar to my diagnosis
could I ask how long does it take for furosemide to work as I am breathless every day pretty in some form and tomorrow will be my first tablet ever I would love to fill normal
When I was first given Furosemide I lost 10lbs of fluid in a week. Initially I was going to the loo every hour. That does calm down when it’s gone - now it can take 2-3 hours before it begins to work. I hope you feel the benefit soon. Try to have very little alcohol, low salt diet & no caffiene - I found this helps too. Let us know how you get on x
HI NLGA. I had a cardiac arrest and a stent fitte May 2024. I was put on FUROSEMIDE at the time. In December I was put on DAPAGLIFLOZIN and find that is definitely helping my breathlessness. I hope that you get the same result.
