Greetings Just a quickie. My cardiac consultant, who I trust implicitly has increased my statin dose from 40 to 80mg (Lipitor). Should I expect any side effects. I dont appear to have much trouble with 40mg except finding it a bit slow to wake up/ get moving in the morning.

40mg to 80mg Lipitor
Hi, I was given 80mg from 20mg and am not experiencing any side effects yet. Hopefully, it'll be the same for you. I was told that there are alternative ones if my current meds don't suit me. Sending best wishes
I didn't have any side effects with 40mg Atorvastatin (Lipitor), and when the dose was increased to 80mg didn't notice any change. However we are all different and you wont know if your increased dose brings with it noticeable side effects until you try it. But if you find you have side effects you can't live with your GP can try other statins which may not have side effects, or you simply revert to your original dose although that comes with a small increase in risk to your heart health since your lipid profile will be less favourable.
I have been on 80mg since my operation so for two years and no issues whatsoever
I am on a maximum dose 40mg per day of rosuvastatin (Crestor) without visible side effects and Crestor is the most effective statin my GP wanted me on it. Maybe you could ask your doctor about it?
I am on 80mg and don't notice any effect. We are all different of course but its worth giving it a try and see how you get on.
Like some of the others I recently was moved from 40 to 80 Atorvastin as my cholesterol was a little high. That was a couple of months ago and I have been perfectly fine - hope you are too, but I shouldn't worry too much. All the best.
my husband is on that dose and no side effects 👍
If you expect side effects you will get them so just go for it and forget the ifs.
