I have first degree heart block as well. I have several other cardiac problems and according to my cardiology team, the heart block is the least of my worries. Every now and then, my resting heart rate drops below 50bpm, sometimes as low as 45 and the general opinion seems to be that by itself it’s no cause for concern. I am on 3.75 bisoprolol which lowers my HR. It was 2.5mg originally and when they added an additional 1.25mg (because of the ectopic beat load) I was told to monitor my HR because of the heart block but that’s the only time I have ever heard about it.

You are far away from needing a pacemaker and unless you are told differently by a medical professional the advice is to keep on running! I wish I could…

My wife was suffereing from a few incidents where her BP dropped to very low levels and saw a cardiologist who diagnosed Ist degree heart block and arranged for her to have an inplanted loop recorder (ILR). This is now monitoring her remotely to enable a decision to be made as to whether she needs a pacemaker. The GP was a bit surprised that the cardiolgist arranged for the ILR for 1st degree heart block but my wife is happy that she is having this level of care. The big downside is that the cardiologist told her that she had to surrender her driving licence for the time being.
