Hi. I've recently been diagnosed with a first degree heart block but can't find any information on whether this would restrict me flying. Has anyone had any experience with this? Its all new to me as this is the first time i've had anything like this diagnosed and its a bit scary to say the least

Good morning Craig 50. I was diagnosed with heart block for a low heart rate and had a pacemaker fitted. And all is fine now. If they are still investigating the cause and looking at treating you. You may have trouble getting insurance. Because usually 1 of the 1st questions is. Are you still under the hospital for treatment. Brian

thank you for your reply. They want to fit me with a 24 hour heart monitor first to see whats going on. It seems as if this may have started through sport

I have 1st degree heart block, Left Bundle Branch Block and Left Axis Deviation, a couple of leaky valves and a bit of muscle damage etc and a PFO. I am on medication for cardiomyopathy and now considered stable as my EF is normal. My cardiologists don't seem to worry about the blockages but, because of the PFO I won't be allowed to scuba dive! 😊 I hope you will have your fears alleviated and keep well. Best wishes.
