Recently diagnosed with angina (consultant said stable, although I am getting episodes at rest) waiting for an appointment for an angiography, so my question is is it ok to drive still? Didn’t get chance to ask the consultant as everything was a bit of a shock

I agree with other comments advising you against driving as I've been told that angina episodes occurring at rest or during sleep is,by definition, unstable angina.
I telephoned DVLA and gave them the details of my medical conditions (not the same as yours). They were able to advise whether I was permitted to drive (I was) but, more importantly, they sent me a letter confirming it. Now if anyone, such as my car insurance company, questions why I was driving, I have the evidence. I had to inform my car insurance company too.
I am a bit concerned that a consultant diagnosed you with stable angina when clearly it is unstable.
That presents a whole different ball game.
Might be worth going back to your consultant or their secretary, point out your condition and try to get the angiography date nailed down. Sooner rather than later.
In the meantime I assume you have been given meds, the spray and lifestyle advice?
The cardio doctor in hospital said to me that I shouldn't drive for a month as I had had a 'Cardiac event' (diagnosed with stable angina) but I didn't have to report it unless I got further symptoms.
