Muscle aches and pains seem to be one of the most common side effects from taking statins, and from what people say on here pains in the lower limbs are the most common. However statin side effects only affect less than 10% of users so that must be taken into account. The normal advice to anyone who believes they are having side effects from taking medication, including statins, where it is affecting their quality of life it to consult with their prescribing health professional e.g the GP, so you could do the same. In the case of statins there are other statins to try and some may not come with any side effects but that is only confirmed by trial. Anyway my take on your situation, particularly where you say you are walking 5 miles or thereabouts, is you have had a trauma on your toe and walking is affecting it. I have arthritis in one of my toes and if I overdo it it hurts for a while. Just like my knee and increasingly one hip. It's old age so I learn to cope with it!
I too have arthritis in my toes such that they don’t really bend any more. I take glucosamine with chondroitin for this and it really helps - BUT check with the pharmacist employed by your doctor’s group of surgeries or the cardiac nurse or your dispensing pharmacist before you take these. I’m on statins and BP medication and the pharmacist was happy as far as I was concerned.
