Strange dreams

Since being diagnosed with Afib and severe hypertension, I went from thinking I was a reasonably healthy 64 year old to being dependent on several drugs. Candestartan 16mgs, Amlodipine 5mgs, Bispropol 2.5mgs and Apixaban 5mgs X2 daily. For a few months, I have frequent dreams that I have forgotten or lost my medication, searching everywhere for it, then wake suddenly in a panic! Has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?

Hello Gilliman

I can relate to this, it's very hard going from being an apparent well person, to one then relying on medication. I ended up having CBT and it became apparent that I had health anxiety and the dreams/worry around my new medication was due to a fear of not being able to manage without them and/or fear of what would happen if I couldn't access them. For me a fear of death (but that's just me!) We did some work around that fear and the longer I took the medication the less I worried, they just became part of my life+routine. I hope that helps, if nothing else just know that your not alone . Any fear/concerns/queries please talk them through with someone it does help.

You take care X

Sorry to hear about your dreams . I cannot tell you if Amlodipine is the cause as I did not tolerate it and had to stop . I live and dream in constant fear ! I have ? Vasospastic angina and did not tolerate any of the calcium channel blockers prescribed . I have presyncope every few day and think that it is going to kill me ! The doctors don't have much to offer and going to ER every time also leaves me helpless and frightened . Hope you can find a way to deal with your anxiety and accept the treatment. It's not easy ! Good luck !

Hi like many of us on this forum. I was a healthy energetic person. No meds off any sort. Then I had a HA. I kept waking up panicking I hadn't taken my meds. In the end I bought a medication log book, so everyday I dutifully tick of pills, I now sleep tight. So does the hubby. Maybe you could use something like a pill box?? then you would know they are in a safe place. 🤗
