Hello Pat :-)

You are going through it with how this is all affecting you one way or another but these dreams they are what again some of us have

I had them and still can even though not as often

I must sound like a broken record but they will get better even though unpleasant

I am so looking forward to that post that I know will come eventually saying how well you are now coping and I hope this talking therapy is going to be a start to things improving :-) x

Some of the medications that we take can make these dreams more likely. I have found that I’ve been having vivid dreams on Bisoprolol. We tend to remember dreams when we wake in the middle of one too - so even waking more frequently in the night will mean that you are aware of more dreams.

I had my bypass back in 2017 and can't recall any strange dreams but to be honest nothing would surprise me. Dreams are a natural way of dealing with stress/emotions so it is quite healthy.

Also it is likely you are taking some medication that messes around with your sleep patterns so dreams are very likely.

My sleep patterns now are all over the shop, thankfully I no longer work so apart from a few days I can lie in if I need to catch up on sleep.

No bypass but on cocktail of meds post HA. Have the weirdest dreams, not scary but very vivid. Stopped Bisoprolol 2+ weeks ago so may be one of the others

I get very vivid dreams since my cardiac experience and going on bisoprolol. I dunno if it’s trauma but when I was laying in the resus / a&e that night with all those pads and machines I stayed awake all night and counted the ceiling tiles.

Since then I’ve had dreams about me late dad and have developed occasional phobia of sleeping at night for fear of passing. Maybe it’s the nature of cardiac issues?

Thank you, I’m sure it’s to do with the bypass surgery and the medication.

Thank you take care

I've been getting disturbing and vivid dreams since I was put on meds after my heart attack 15 months ago. I think it's the bisoprolol.

Thank you. I’m sure it’s the medication hopefully in time the nasty dream will start to fad away

Thank you take care

I haven’t had a bypass but when I was on metoprolol I used to experience a lot of unpleasant and vivid dreams. One night I woke myself (and my partner) screaming and absolutely dripping in sweat! My poor chap thought we were under attack 😂🙈

I still get frequent dreams but thankfully less unpleasant ones than I used to. I’m on dapagliflozin and ivabradine now.

Fingers crossed that it settles down for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Best wishes

Soap

Thank you for your reply, a lot of people on here have had the same problem, it’s only 4 months since my bypass surgery hopefully in time the dream will go, but I’m sure it’s the medication.

Thank you take care

Hi I had my surgery November 22 and I do seem to be dreaming more, some not so pleasant and weird. Not sure if it’s the meds or what but read somewhere that statins can cause this ( although only on low dose 10mg) hope things improve for you very soon 😊

Hi ya, I had my bypass surgery the same time as you and I’m the same age, I’m sure the strange dreams are the medication, I’m waiting for talking therapy to start this week I have bad anxiety especially in the mornings when I wake, I’ve been told this happens to those that have heart surgery, can I ask, have you suffered like this and how are you doing at the moment, we a having long walk, it’s just this bloody anxiety

Please take care

Hi the first few months after surgery we’re somewhat difficult as I was anaemic so very weak, I also had what they call foot drop so unable to walk as my left foot would not do as asked 😩 I was in a wheelchair for approx 8-9 weeks. I’m doing a lot better now ( ditched wheelchair ) and started Cardio rehab 2 weeks ago so much happier. I have felt depressed and anxious at times but always try to be positive. I hope things improve for you and the talking therapy helps. Good luck and enjoy your day 😊
