I have been having quite a bit of trouble sleeping lately, and have also experienced some very weird dreams for quite a time now. I never had either of these problems before, and am wondering if it is anything to do with the medication. I am only on Clopidogrel 75mg and Atorvastatin 80mg now, does anyone else have similar problems with either of these? have to say it is starting to get me down a bit and interfering with my exercise as some days I feel tired in the morning. I do not really have much else on my mind or anything to worry about (apart from climate change before anyone says anything )

Insomnia/Dreams
Hi lateguitarist. I have bad dreams from time to time and they started when I had my cocktail of meds following my heart attack and stent 3 years ago. I looked into it and Atorvastatin was likely to be the culprit. I only rarely got vivid and really horrible dreams so I have just put up with it. I had a bigger problem with waking up and then not getting back to sleep and then read this (google.co.uk/amp/s/www.inde.... Actually works most of the time. You could try asking you doc if you can take your Atorvastatin in the morning. It should work just as well and the potential ‘nightmare effect’ may be less. Just a thought.
Hope you have a great 2020!
Thanks for that, sounds fairly similar to the relaxation we did at rehab but a bit different so I will give it a try. i am similar to you though, I drop off but then wake up and can't get back off. Doesn't help as wife is going through menopause which seems to have made her snore as a bonus........ah well.
Hi I was put on Atorvastin 20mg and Clopidogrel 75mg after doctors found a crescent in the side of my neck, . I too have very vivid dreams but I put them down to the Clopidogrel
as mine is 75mg . My wife is on 80mg Clopidogrel and she has no problem with dreams ,so I have come to the conclusion after reading your post that it could be the clopidogrel as my dreams are horrible as well.
Just one question , since I have been on both these tablets, for 3 years I have found my skin , especially my forehead has become very dry and flaky, have you found this as prior to taking the tablets my skin was always oily.
Thank you for your post, its the first one I have had relating to the dreams and has put my mind at rest.
Have a good and healthy New Year to all,
David
Hi David - I am a wee bit confused did you mean it must be the Atorvastatin if you wife is also on Clopidogrel? I have started taking the Atorvastatin in the morning for a bit to see if it makes a difference. I have not had any skin problems really, I used to get strange tingling sensations and my fingers used to get a bit red on the tops of the knuckles, but since I have not been taking Asprin these seem to have gone. I am on 80mg Atorvastatin, the dreams are very vivid and often quite disturbing/frightening.
Hi I take atrovastin in the mornings and have not experienced any vivid dreams and I sleep reasonably well most nights maybe try morning medication or speak to your doctor hope you get sorted soon.
Hi Sorry about the misunderstanding, my fault lol, I am on 20mg Atorvastatin and my wife is on 80mg Atorvastatin , and like I said she does not have any mad dreams .My wife does not take Clopidogrel.
I also take the Clopidogrel 75mg so I was thinking maybe it is the Clopidogrel if you see what I mean .Thank you for the reply , I may switch to taking the Atorvastatin in the morning as cookie 1960 mentioned. I will let you know if it makes a difference.
