NSTEMI Dec 23, 1 stent inserted.

Usual drugs, BP, statins, blood thinners, bisoprolol, plus sertraline

Have changed statins and bp meds due to side effects. Being doing really well, completed cardio rehab no issues and in June was discharged from cardio outpatients. BP, heart rate and cholesterol all within good range.

However, over the last couple of weeks have been waking up with adrenaline rushes and anxiety, this has had a knock affect on my day and I am now feeling quite down and mood is flat, still functioning but just going through the motions of living without the joy.

I know we cannot give medical advice on here and I have emailed the BHF nurse's and my GP for that, just wondering if anyone else has had this, I suspect the bisoprolol 2.5mgs that I am on?

Hi, as you say we are not medics, I am not sure how long you have been on sertraline but I developed panic attacks. Not initially, but after a few months and it had got into my system

I hope you feel better soon, Judi

Thank you. No it's not the sertraline, I have been on that for 3 years or more, but do appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Sometimes, for some people, SSRIs can stop working:

You may want to ask your GP about possibly changing from sertraline to one of the others (there are many).

I’m 3 years down the line from my HA and I’ve always likened the aftermath to a roller coaster. I would say as time has gone on the lows on that roller coaster are much less. Your not 12 months on yet but you will get there. Be patient ( i know how hard that can be), accepting your on a bit of a down can help just remember it won’t last you’ll be up again soon. I have kept a daily wellbeing diary at those times it helps you focus on the positives of life. Good luck.

sertraline is possibly the candidate. It simply isnt working for you now.

I sometimes get this - my sleep has been affected by waking up in this way. I’m only on bisoprolol, aspirin , omeprazole and Rovustatin. It could be the bisoprolol side effect but part of me thinks is it a mental health thing about anxiety about something happening in my sleep. I’m not on any antidepressants or medication similar to that.
