I have no experience of this but I used to be a life assurance underwriter.
There was discussion within the industry and between the industry and government on the issue of genetic markers. This was after I’d had left the industry so I’m unsure of the exact result, and I haven’t been able to ascertain it for certain.
However, most people would not know whether or not they have this type of information, so the general population would not be able to declare whether they have such information or not. So there are no statistics that an insurer could rely on to make a judgement.
If you are applying for life assurance then you must answer each question on the application form as exactly as you can. Each company has its own questions, and may have different ones depending on what type of life cover you need.
if you have a specific question on an application form to answer, and you are having difficulty with it, then send me a message through this forum and I will see if I can help.
I was told you only have to disclose Huntington’s disease and that other predictive genetic markers don’t have be disclosed to insurance companies. However if it is a diagnostic test to confirm a genetic condition you may have to disclose
I won’t say I’m an expert but it doesn’t appear your test confirmed a condition but it is a marker that increases the probability. I would take advice though.
I am in insurance adviser. Most insurers wil ask you if you have been advised to have screening for anything that runs in your family. In my experience it is always best to fully discloses this is pretty much the only reason that you dont get paid out now. If mainstream providers decline based on this there are specialist ones that will be able to help.
Let me know if you need advice and for me to look into properly for you.
