Life insurance help!

I am trying to get life insurance as I am in the process of buying my first house but I'm getting rejected from a lot of insurers. I have a leaky mitral valve and family history of cardiomyopathy which is why I am struggling. I was hoping someone could recommend an insurance company they have used. Thank you!

Hi Megan2403

The larger companies normally aren't keen on quoting for people with heart issues.

Some of the smaller specialist firms may be more sympathetic, Have a look at the link below. Alternatively, you could go to a broker to see what they could come up with.

I’m 23 years old, so still early days for me, k wanted to get mortgage protection for my house so if I were to pass away my partner wasn’t stuck with the payments on his own

Were just waiting for the mortgage offer to be accepted. It's highly recommended but not mandatory, I have some cover through my work so it's not something I need immediately however in the long run if I were to move companies it's not necessarily something I will have in the future

In a practical sense everything you say, Allypops, is correct.

Just for a moment though, to be pedantic, you can get any risk insured. However, the premium quoted might be prohibitively high.

Also a broker can explain the difference between, for eg, whole of life and term assurance, and between house or car insurance and life assurance.

If you read my reply to the poster I said some of the specialist companies MAY be more sympathetic. I always believe in exploring every possible solution before giving up and accepting that there is none.

People on this forum all generally try to provide helpful answers to the questions posted. You may have a different opinion on the subject to me, but being belligerent and rude helps no one!

In my book saying someone is taking rubbish is being rude - clearly you don't!

Because I’ve always had cover through work I never too a personal plan out. Then when I got diagnosed with Mitral Valve Regurgitation 7 years ago I started trying with no joy as I was refused each time.

I did get accepted with getesmi.co.uk/ at the end of last year though so don’t give up!!
