Skin problems.

I have had very itchy rash for about 12 months and wondered whether this is caused by any of the heart medications I am taking following bypass surgery two years ago. The rash seems to be getting worse and more widespread, covering large areas of my back, shoulders and chest. I am currently taking Bisoprolol, Ramipril, Atorvastatin and aspirin. Has anybody else experienced this?

Hi CrispAddict

I’m sorry to hear about the symptoms you’re having.

Just a thought. Could the skin rash be an allergic reaction to one of the meds you’re taking?

Let us know how you get on.

Hi, From what I've read online the Ramipril and aspirin are both potential culprits.

It could be Hives. You will need your GP's advice on whether it is your meds. causing this or something else. There are various prescription creams that will help with this and if it doesn't shift you may need antibiotics, as I did.

Thanks for your reply.

hello

I don’t now how you have coped for twelve months, even a little bit of itchy skin drives me nuts, seeing a GP to start with is best idea as others have said.

Wish you luck and hope gets sorted very soon whether that be treatment of teh skin and /or changes to your meds.

👍

Hello :-)

I take the same statin and Bisoprolol and the last few months even though I have been on them a while now I have a itchy scalp drives me mad and never had any issues with my scalp before

My Doctor has come up with three things over me asking what is the cause will not even bother to say what as I do not believe her reasons are what is causing it and have often wondered if it is any of my meds I take

I would talk with your Doctor and will be interesting what they say what is causing yours and hope you will let us know how you get on :-) x

Hi, I sometimes get a very itchy scalp too - feels like something creeping under my skin. I've been told at various times that it's psoriasis, a fungal infection etc. but like you I'm not convinced. I didn't have these problems before taking these medications.

Hello :-)

It drives me mad as when it starts you just have to itch

When you have been told it is several things I think there is no wonder we doubt what we are been told

If you ever find out what it is you will have to let me know :-)

Thank you for your reply :-) x

Just a thought... have you changed your shampoo? If not then another possibility is the manufacturer has changed the make up of the shampoo. They are always trying to use less expensive ingredients under the guise of "improvements". 😯

Hello :-)

I have not changed it I have always had the same hair products but I did say I wonder if they are putting anything different in them as they are always trying to make things as they see better :-)

Thank you for your reply :-) x
