I recently went through planned stent ..4 stent put in , been 3 weeks since it has been done still I am getting some kind of pain in my chest ..sometime localised pain on left or right side , occasionally mild discomfort all over my chest.somedays i am ok.no other sign that pain can stay for hours but pain doesn't move nor goes up or down ..quite constant. I asked my rehab team and looking at forums I feel it is some kind of stretch pain. But makes me worry sometimes.. I am quite fit. Never smoke or drink and lived moderate life unfortunately was diagnosed with arthrclorosis . Since discharge I am following all medication and diet and doing my cardiac rehab. Do anyone here feel the same? Should I be worried? I have follow up with my cardiologist only on 19th Oct in two weeks. Any suggestions or feedback

Thank you so much aaq91 , yes feels like this discomfort and unexpected pain giving me an anxiety. Hopefully this settles down quickly. I wasnt told about stretch pain etc by cardiologist or cardiac unit. Thanks for a link, thats how I found out about stretch pain..

Dear Sodp

A warm welcome to you from the forum, I hope that you will find the answers and receive the support that it can offer us all.

So 4 stents put in, no wonder you are still feeling pain from the process of having them fitted, it is very early days and you seem to be handling it all magnificently.

Stent fitting seems so basic these days and it's only the skill set of our surgeons and the modern equipment that make it seem so. It wasn't that long ago that it was considered a major operation and rightly so.

I would contact your heart team as its a little while before your appointment with the Cardiologist , and tell them your concerns again.

Well done for getting to this stage, the stretch pain seems to be on the right track but I am not medically trained and it really needs to be confirmed.

Take care and please let us know how you get on

Thanks blue1958, for encouragement and nice words. Yes its been 3 weeks talking to cardiac nurse at rehab she said can take upto 6 weeks to recover and its quite normal. However each time pain returns it last for a while and add into my anxiety ...I am seeing my cardiologist on 19th this month, earliest appointment I could get . Of course will keep you updated

Thanks

I had one stent put in a few years back. The localised pain that you are experiencing, I did too, if I remember correctly, for almost 2 months. It gradually subsided. I used to take walks, albeit quite slowly, as walking fast would bring about some extra pain. The reduction in the pain is quite gradual and slow but disappear it does for sure. Don't worry it will all be all gone pretty soon.

hi Sodp. I think stretch pain is correct. It’s an invasive procedure. It will settle but give it time. Take care!

Hi I had a heart attack about 14 weeks ago totally out of the blue and had a stent fitted. I had a left sided chest pain almost from coming home from the op. As I slowly increased my walking then so the pain increased. I looked upon this as a warning that I had overdone it so rested for the next day. Then continually slowly increased my exercise now walking about a mile a day and the chest pains have totally gone away, they lasted about 10 to 14 weeks after the stent was fitted then just faded away - hope this helps - good luck Mike

Hi It was like an ache in the lhside of my chest which when I had overdone it was more of a sharp pain especially on breathing. Been gone now for a number of weeks with no return. hope you are on the mend soon - Mike
