I had one stent in the lad last Jan. Still get some chest pain from time to time. I am on bisoprolol 1.25mg. This has made my heat rate very low (under 40 sometimes) so tried to stop taking. However after 3 days started to not feel great and got chest pain. Therefore started taking it again
Anyone experience of stopping bisoprolol . I am wondering if I had continued to not take them, whether chest pain and other symptoms would go away over time ?
Any advice appreciated

Hi, I've been on 1.25 since April following CABG last January. Consultant said I could come off it in July which I tried but like you felt really horrible after about 3 days so went back on it. In September I decided to try again, but on advice from pharmacist I reduced by cutting 1.25 in half with a pill cutter.... I didn't get pain but HR was faster on exercise but after about 2weeks settled again. That has worked and I plan to reduce again probably take 1/2 every other day for about a month and then stop. Really keen to get off it, but still feel it's a bit of a safety net. Good luck.
I monitor my HR during exercise using Polar and I know even the half tablets keeps breaks on my HR by about 7 BPM.... average resting HR is 55 . After about a week reducing to half tablets I felt so energetic and euphoric almost! Looking forward to the buzz of getting off the rest of it.
Hello I don't think Low heart rate is a problem as long as you don't have any symtoms ( light headed etc ). As for chest pain you need to have that checked out, I don't think Bisoprolol gives you chest pain, that's from someone on 7.5mg with a heart rate of around 50 on average. I reduced from 10mg to 7.5mg overnight after a Holter recorded 33 bpm and 3 second pauses. I had no effects at all with droping down. I would only mess if your medical team suggest it.
Hi, I was on 1.25mg of Bisoprolol after my HA last November. I too had problems with low HR, dropping into low 40s and often into 30s. Was like a zombie at times. Stuck it out for 3 months but in the end cardiologist agreed I could stop it. Felt a bit "odd" for a week or two but overall much better being off it. I think me and "olols" don't get on as I had similar issues with atenolol years ago. I asked about phasing off it but did it "cold turkey" following discussion with the cardiologist. Please do discuss and unpleasant or worrying symptoms with your D
