Hi everyone I’m new. Got myself some heart problems, not sure how I’m feeling about it all. I’m just 70 but think I’m 40 haha.

Waiting to see heart consultant but it’s been 10 weeks instead of 6, that has given me time to have all sorts of thoughts about what’s going on.

I do ramble on a bit but I’m frustrated with the wait and finding out my prognosis.

Thanks for reading 😉

I've found that if you've had tests if urgent they will see you sooner,I had af last July and referred but didn't get appointment til Dec so over 16weeks,but if you get any probs b4 appt just go a&e

The phrase heart failure mentioned in your bio is not helpful to patients. It rarely means that, just that your heart is not working at maximum efficiency which covers an awful lot of people.

Presumably you have had some tests which resulted in the appointment with a 10 week wait?

If so, if your results were of huge concern you would be higher up the list but worth contacting the consultants secretary and offer to come at short notice if there is a cancellation should that be possible for you.

In the meantime, is there anything you can do to help yourself, after checking with your GP, such as exercising a bit more or losing weight?

Hi Mamar5, Welcome. It is a worrying time when you're waiting for results and I also understand your frustration. Like Devonion186, I would suggest ringing your consultant's secretary to ask if she/ he can see where you are on the appointments list and to say you'd be happy to come in at short notice should they have a cancellation. You can also go to your GP, especially as you have problems with breathlessness. GPs can also help to speed things up if concerned or maybe tweek your medication. In the past I ve found some tablets can make me more breathless and I've been moved onto alternatives. Don't hesitate to go to A&E if your condition the slightest bit worse. I hope you get to see your consultant soon.

Hiya, I have rung the consultant twice, but she just says call back in a couple of weeks. I’m going to call again on Monday. Where I live you can’t get to see or speak to our gp, unless you’re first in the que at 8am. By the time you wait for your turn all appointments for that day are gone. So I’ve given up hope with them.

I’ll see what they say on Monday, then I’ll start making a fuss.

Thanks for your reply 👍

You have my sympathy re the GP surgery. Such a pity that you're unable to get an appointment there. It would be worth pursuing in view of your breathlessness. Good Luck for Monday.
