Hi I’m new to the forum recently suffered Heart attack and had one stent fitted. Just wanted to introduce myself.
New to forum: Hi I’m new to the forum... - British Heart Fou...
New to forum
Hi I am new too, had a stent yesterday and this is my first day out.
I was in for three days. How you feeling
I went in Friday, had an echocardiogram on Saturday and Angioplasty on the Sunday. Not sure what I am supposed to do now as they just gave me a bag of tablets and sent me home.
Did you get any guidance booklets, there is one I got that give you do’s and don’ts for the first 6 weeks. Also an exercise guide for building up walking. I can message a copy (somehow!) if it would help?
That would be brilliant. I was walking 4-8 km per day until Thursday. I feel my legs are good for it but I don't want to overdo things. Such a shock still
I know how you feel, at the start of March I was on the treadmill on Monday morning and the hospital bed on Tuesday morning. I’ll see if I can message you the relevant pages or I’ll message to get an email address. Basically do very little for a couple of weeks.
A bit different as I had heart attack so on discharge outlined referral to cardio specialist and Cardio re Hab team they made contact last week and will maintain this. Give your GP a ring he will go through the medication. You on blood thinners and beta blockers as well as a statin
I have had a call from the GP this morning. I was on statin before (20mg) but that is now 80mg.
Normal after the procedure. My friend who had three stents done after heart attack is also on 80 mg. Let me know how you feel in a few days. Nighttime after taking the statin I wake up quite sweaty so don’t know if this is the statin
Hello and welcome, plenty of people here who can help if you have any questions.
Take care stay safe Pauline
Thanks for that. I was walking a lot until last Thursday and feel I could just go and do a full walk. I felt like an imposter in cardio until I saw the angioplasty pictures.
We have all had our bad days, 3 1/2 years on and I still do!!you have to be kind to yourself, it’s early days. This mended heart road we are all travelling on some days we need to take it easy. You said about seeing the pictures I know what you mean I can see my scar from my OHS and think wow that really did happen to me! But I am here to tell you you my life is good. So onwards and upwards.
Stay safe best wishes Pauline
Thanks. Nights are the worst time at the moment. Last night after finding the forum relaxed me quite a bit and for the first time in ten days slept all night.
Hi - welcome to the forum. It’s a brilliant place to air any niggles you have and get feedback from people who have shared experiences.
I’ve started exercise just walking in three 20 minute stints. I wanting to find the main exercises used at the cardio rehab centres. Can anyone help
BHF have a DVD and two booklets (comes as a set) but they're out of stock just now. I ordered mine 3rd April and although at the time it was showing as in stock it is still not here owing to delays so I'm winging it. Cautiously, very very cautiously!
Any road, here's a link to the out-of-stock set. It's based on rehab so it would be helpful no matter when it arrives:
Hi Al16 and CorshamHeart. Welcome to the club.

Hi Al16 and CorshamHeart welcome to the One Stent club. I agree with everyone’s comments - take it easy - your body has had a hellova shock. You brain needs to get used to a new normal and then on recovery to a whole new you! Almost a year later I have good days and then out of the blue have no energy and need to stop. This is a great forum they are so supportive and we’ve been where you are too. Take care and stay safe. You’re better off out of hospital at the moment.
I'm also new, had a stent 5 weeks ago after suffering heart attack.
