Artovastatin & Semaglutide

2 1/2 years ago i had a heart attack and had 2 stents fitted.

I was already on a low dose of Artovastatin but it was increased from 20 to 80mg. I have found it very hard to get any strength back in legs and took up swimming and a weekly aquarobics session.

I was prescribed Orlistat to help lose weight and managed 9kg but the side effects were unpleasant.

Had 11 weeks away in australasia at the beginning of this year and stopped the orlistat in case i had 'issues' that would be inconvenient. Needless to say i put the weight back on.

Recently I have started getting tired and very weak so went to the doctors who referred back to the cardiac clinic. The outcome is diagnosed with Angina and they are putting me on some unknown tablet and increasing another. They also suggested talking to my doctor about trying a Semaglutide to help weight loss.

I read that others have had issues with Artovastatin and muscle strength.

Has anyone changed to another statin instead of artovastatin?

Secondly has anyone used a semaglutide (wegovy or ozempic) whilst taking other tablets such as statins.

Thank you

can I suggest you talk this over with the pharmacist who is employed at your doctors group of surgeries? In my case we access such a person through the receptionist, your practice might be different. This is the person who knows about medication and their interactions and can guide their general practitioner. They will have access to your records.

Not sure if it is related - but I had extreme fatigue too after starting my statins (40mg). While my EF is fine and have experienced muscle pain too, it is much better now. My Total cholesterol nosedived to about 2 - I suspect that was having an issue with my body. It is slighly higher now and feel so much better. Also, I am taking a multi vitamins supplement - that could be hleping too.

I've had 2 stents fitted last October. I can't take stations because of side effects. The hospital pharmacist put me on a new statin that's injected twice a year it's called INCLISIRAN. My cholesterol is now is 3.6 good and 2.5 bad. The Lipid nurse said it should go down even more. Hope this helps. Good luck.

My husband had bad pain on atorvastatin. I had awful nausea and stomach pain. Husband refused any more. I changed to simvastatin which has no ill effects for me. Rosuvastatin is said to have even less chance of side effect s.

I take 80mg Atorvastin and Ezetemibe 10mg for cholesterol, aspirin and bisoprolol. I am also on Mounjaro currently ( similar to Semiglutide) for weight loss. I initially felt tired on the Mounjaro but now fine and I have lost 22 lbs which maybe why I now have more energy. I havent had an issue with muscle pain.
