hi all. I have a CoaguChek INRange and I have a batch of test strips and the machine keeps coming up test strip error (M-24). The strips go out of date at the end of September so should be ok but it says the meter does not recognize test strip. I have tried a reboot. Anybody have any ideas please? 😃

I don’t know if this is the issue, but there’s a little ‘chip’ that slots into the side of the machine, with each different batch of testing strips. If it’s not the relevant one, the strips won’t register in the machine. That is the extent of my technical knowledge on the subject! 😂
hi
Have you tried cleaning the machine? It’s hard to describe but there is a little raised plastic part that will pop off and sometimes it gets really messy from previous blood. If you clean it and then retry your strips you may find you solve the problem. It’s happened to me in the past.
After that, I'd get new strips. Expensive, but can't go along without knowing your INR... While you're waiting, arrange the blood test through a path lab. Of course, you know all this.
I had this problem with mine, I had about 10 strips that worked fine then the next 6 or so wouldn't work. They came up with an error on some of them and for some of them it didn't even recognise that the strip had been inserted. I got in touch with the anticoagulation team and they informed me that it was a bad batch of strips. They come across this problem themselves every so often and it's just luck as to whether you get any bad strips or not. You might as well try the rest of the strips you have as you might have some good ones left as I did. Seems terribly wasteful at about 4 quid a strip, but it is not your fault that the strips are faulty. The only thing that will fix this is a new box of strips and when you pick it up make sure it doesn't have the same batch number on as the faulty box or you might have the same problem again. If it does have the same batch number on, let the pharmacist know about it so they will have prior warning that you might be bringing them back if they don't work.
I've had my Coaguchek device for many years. If ever I've had an unresolved problem I phoned them and it was resolved......even had a new machine shipped out I earlier days !
wow, might need to do that! Not a new machine though but nothing to lose! Thanks!
Hi All
Just called Roche and was informed that there are 2 different types of testing strip. The one's with the red band around the tub are for self testing and the one's with the black band are for Doctors. The machines are set to know the difference. Who knew! Certainly not me. Thanks everyone for all your help, it is much appreciated, I hope they have them at my GP's! 🤞🤞🤞
