Thank you everyone for the lovely responses and support yesterday. I finally got the call from the surgeon late in the afternoon to say all was well and my husband had been transferred to the ICU. They are hoping to wake him this morning and hopeful can go to see him later.
A big thank you once again. Your support was much appreciated.
You are all amazing people.

Triple bypass operations are performed alot, don't want to say routinely with excellent success rates. Every operation has risks especially with GA. A friend had one recently and he is very much back to normal after 4 months, takes time. He told me the worst bit was tuning in all the meds he takes after.
So glad you heard from the surgeon yesterday. Such an anxious time for you. I can’t begin to imagine what that wait must be like.
Not sure if you’ll be allowed to visit whilst your Husband is in I.C.U or if he’s even permitted to have his phone with him? (My hospital don’t allow either - until you’re back on H.D.U). But they did allow my Hubby to call and speak to me briefly via their landline a couple of times - (I was with them for 4 days before transferring), which helped reassure everyone at home and was a boost for me.
Fingers crossed he has a straightforward and speedy recovery and will be back at home with you, before you know it. All the best. ❤️🩹
Aw thank you for your reply. No I can’t visit but he text me this morning which was a relief. I’m not allowed to visit today but hopefully tomorrow he will be out of intensive care and I can then go and see him.
Wishing you all the very best too and thank you once again. The people on here have been amazing and it’s nice not to feel alone and to speak with people who really understand.
Absolutely! I didn’t find this forum until 8 months post surgery and was struggling really with the enormity of the op and various complications, then sadly having both parents deemed palliative within 2 weeks of me being home and then losing our lovely Mum just a few weeks after that. It did all rather mess with my head for a time and made me wonder why on earth I had the surgery, when I still felt so unwell.
But finding other members who had been through what I had experienced and walked in my shoes, understanding what I was feeling - was hugely helpful. To know that you’re not alone and everyone has the same worries and concerns, helped me reconcile everything I had been through. I hope your Husband will find find the support he will need too, here.
Fingers crossed he’s back on the ward by tomorrow. 🤞🏻
That’s good news. I was allowed to visit my husband in ICU. He did speak to me but the next visit he wondered why I had not visited him sooner. He could not remember my earlier visit so that’s probably why they wait. Wishing you both all the best.
That's great, from now on it's all about slow, steady, patient progress and getting better 🙂 - they'll look after him brilliantly in hospital to get him ready for home - my stay was only 5 days, so hopefully not too long
Glad to hear everything went well . Healing will take time but he will feel like a new man once healed. But with your love and support and rest of the family he will get there. 🌹
I had a triple bypass in June of last year. I was home within a week after the op, but don't allow him to be discharged without having his digestion working properly 'end to end'. The medications they give you can stop you up terribly and I had a couple of weeks of sheer hell after I came home, which had nothing to do with my heart or the operation itself. he will also have limited upper body strength for a while, so bear that in mind in terms of sleeping position etc. Recovery can be a bit variable depending on the patient, but I'm now at the stage where I can just about cope with my two hour commute into the office on public transport. Get hubby to take it slow, but take advantage of any physio or fitness classes offered.
Hello, that's great news. Not all the same, but I was woken in CICU following CABG surgery the day before at 7am, sat in a chair at 8am, ate breakfast at 8:30, went for a walk around the ward (with help) at 10:30 received visitors at 4pm and was moved to a ward the following morning. Home 2 days later. Hopefully, he may be home mid to late this week. Take care.
Morning, that's a bit to low, are you restless with that kind of BPM heart rate. Mine is around 50 to 55....If start to feel unwell at all you need to go straight to your nearest ED
Hello jayjay10000 I am not restless very calm, I have not any other symptoms but sometimes tiredness. A fuzzy head sometimes. The heart rate varies sometimes but recently it has been low.
