Does anyone know how often Digoxin levels should be tested? Consultant said that he would write to GP to get them to check but he has not done so ?

I’m on digoxin for years and I get checked every six months from my GP

My pharmacist told me that my GP should check levels at least once a year, preferably every 6 months but when I asked my GP they said there was no need. I did have a test in the end but it had to be taken within a certain time limit of taking the medication so wasn’t just as straight forward. Perhaps that’s why it’s not done routinely.

It depends on how stable you are if you are having few or no symptoms then annually is fine but if you are having symptoms or the levels are not where they should be then 3/6 months till stable if it has not been done for a while and you are worried ask .

My pharmacist says 6 months but I had to chase up my GP for the test and was 12 months when eventually done and 're times it has to have minimum of 6 hours between taking digoxin and having test
