has anyone had the joint procedures where the pacemaker then becomes the driver of the heart?

ablate and pace
Cardiologist suggested I have it done, went to see an expert on the matter he advised me not to have ablation done as I would be relying entirely on the pacemaker he said if the pacemaker failed for any reason I would die. He explained that if my pacemaker failed and I hadn’t had the ablation my heart was working enough for me to go to hospital to get sorted. So I refused the ablation. But I suppose it depends on the health of your heart.
I have had both done. I have been left with an e f of 35 so if anything happens I have enough hr left to get to a hospital
Pacemaker set to beat between 50 and 120.
Husband has total heart block. If his stopped he would die.
D
53 pacemaker dependant after pace and ablate, total heart block.Never really thought what would happen if my pacemaker failed?
Husban’s heart stopped on table as they were inserting pm, but it had been expected
So if mine stopped/failed, would it be lights out? Not worried as I know it would be very very unlikely just curious, but also want to know how a upgrade from my current 2 lead PM to a 3 lead CRT pacemaker is carried out when like me have total heart block as this is the plan for me.Guessing they have to unplug, remove one to insert and connect the other so at some point the heart is going to be disconnected from pacing?
I have had the pacemaker part done and waiting for the AV node Ablation; but I would dearly love to hear some positive comments on this procedure, as I am very apprehensive about it all, so would like to know something hopeful,
I am told that I am now 100% in AF but because of the AV node ablation, can’t feel a thing! 🤸🏻♂️
Yes that’s my position but due to have ablation next week 🥴
I had a pace and ablate done around 13 yrs now. I assume I have total heart block and depend solely on the pacemaker. I had a pacemaker fitted first (CRT-P) then I had an AVnode ablation. I was a bit unsure because once it’s been ablated it’s gone forever. I read on line people saying after that ablation you can only live for 5 years. I was fearful, but I went ahead because of arrhythmias coming out of it therefore ablations became dangerous, also I was in heart failure because of arrhythmias and dilated cardiomyopathy. Having my AVnode gone is the least of my problems.
All the best.
So does pace n ablate reduce life expectancy? Any evidence on this? I'm also in HF and permanent AF, struggle everyday since pace n ablate with ongoing health issues.
Not a question for me because all the things wrong with my heart I just thank God I’m still here. We are all different and maybe even have different reasons why we need pace an ablate. I can only give my story and like I said 13 yrs and I’m still here after having it. Without it who knows. The arrhythmia I had was slowing down my heart and it was even more annoying than Afib I have now.
