I had a double bypass operation in 2011 and have subsequently purely had an annual review with my GPThis entails a
- blood test coverin cholesterol & liver function
- urine test for diabetes
- weigh-in
- blood pressure check
Is this online with other people in the UK who have been through such an operation?
I don't particularly want anymore intervention but would be interested in what care others are receiving.
One other question....
Since the op I've been on
Bisoprolol
Lisiniopril
Doxazosin
Atorvastatin
Omeprazole
The only irritating problem I can point to is extremely dry mouth. I can drink water, use gum, use mints, use xylitol based mouthwash/toothpaste, all to no avail. It returns within minutes.
Does anyone know which, if any of these drugs, might be the culprit?
Any help, or comment would be much appreciated.

I get an annual review in the Cardiac wing of the hospital. They do two scans, a little chat then given the all clear. I get a bit concerned at the number of pills I take and these are under the wing of my GP.
I had AVR four years ago and my heart seems to be very happy. No heart problems at all. I do, however, wonder what the medication might be doing.
I try to just enjoy my life as best I can. Without the heart op I would not be here.
I hope you can find a solution to help with your dry mouth.
Have you got a pharmacy specialist at your GP s surgery ? Failing that, you could book an appointment at a chemist, to review the medication.
Hi, I haven’t had a bypass operation but did have a heart attack in 2012. It was the Bisoprolol that caused my dry mouth. I was also on Atorvastatin, low dose aspirin and lansoprazole (instead of omeprazole) and clopidogrel. I had to come off the bisoprolol due to the severity of the cough it gave me. Once off the bisoprolol, my dry mouth cleared up. I hope that helps. I was put on half beta-prograne instead of the bisoprolol, but you could be offered something else more suitable for your circumstances.
